Proactively identify valuable areas of investigation that help deepen understanding of members, writers, and overall business.
Partner with technical and non-technical stakeholders across the company to develop hypotheses and generate actionable insights.
Work with executives at Medium, including the CEO, to model and present data insights.
Build and maintain statistical and predictive models about Medium’s business.
Run research projects for leadership and cross-functional partners.
Develop and maintain quantitative models supporting forecasting and strategic planning.
Share knowledge with and mentor engineers and other stakeholders to improve their analytics capabilities.
Contribute to the broader data culture and ecosystem at Medium.

Requirements

4-6 years of experience as an in-house data scientist.
Highly proficient in statistical programming with either Python or R.
Comfortable writing SQL for analytical queries.
Experience building, validating, and deploying predictive and statistical models.
Strong collaboration skills and history of cross-team and executive-level partnership.
Experience applying modeling techniques to problems unique to social platforms or subscription/membership businesses is a plus.
Familiarity with ML engineering practices, dbt, or data engineering is a plus.
