About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Manage the day-to-day operations of allocated construction sites
Plan and coordinate site activities for safe and efficient project delivery
Supervise site teams, subcontractors and suppliers
Allocate labour and resources to meet programme requirements
Monitor productivity, programme progress and programme risks
Promote health and safety and ensure compliance with CDM Regulations and relevant legislation
Deliver site inductions, daily briefings and Toolbox Talks
Conduct safety inspections, site audits and maintain site records
Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed in schools and public environments
Ensure works comply with drawings, specifications and client requirements
Monitor workmanship, conduct quality inspections, manage defects, snagging and handovers
Manage subcontractor performance and coordinate specialist contractors
Plan material requirements, coordinate deliveries and manage plant and equipment
Act as primary site contact for clients and attend progress meetings
Liaise with schools, local authorities and stakeholders
Assist Project Managers with progress reporting, variations, additional works, labour tracking, plant utilisation and material usage
Identify efficiency improvements and report commercial risks
Maintain accurate site, progress, labour, plant, delivery, quality, photographic, as-built and health and safety documentation
Deliver Sustainable Drainage Systems and associated civil engineering works across Northern England

Requirements

What you’ll need

Previous experience as a Site Manager within construction or civil engineering
Experience managing subcontractors and direct labour
Strong knowledge of groundworks, drainage or highways construction
Excellent organisational skills
Strong leadership and communication abilities
Ability to read construction drawings
Experience managing multiple concurrent work activities
Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
Full UK Driving Licence
SMSTS qualification
CSCS Manager Card
Willingness to travel regularly
