About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage the day-to-day operations of allocated construction sites
- Plan and coordinate site activities for safe and efficient project delivery
- Supervise site teams, subcontractors and suppliers
- Allocate labour and resources to meet programme requirements
- Monitor productivity, programme progress and programme risks
- Promote health and safety and ensure compliance with CDM Regulations and relevant legislation
- Deliver site inductions, daily briefings and Toolbox Talks
- Conduct safety inspections, site audits and maintain site records
- Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed in schools and public environments
- Ensure works comply with drawings, specifications and client requirements
- Monitor workmanship, conduct quality inspections, manage defects, snagging and handovers
- Manage subcontractor performance and coordinate specialist contractors
- Plan material requirements, coordinate deliveries and manage plant and equipment
- Act as primary site contact for clients and attend progress meetings
- Liaise with schools, local authorities and stakeholders
- Assist Project Managers with progress reporting, variations, additional works, labour tracking, plant utilisation and material usage
- Identify efficiency improvements and report commercial risks
- Maintain accurate site, progress, labour, plant, delivery, quality, photographic, as-built and health and safety documentation
- Deliver Sustainable Drainage Systems and associated civil engineering works across Northern England
Requirements
What you’ll need- Previous experience as a Site Manager within construction or civil engineering
- Experience managing subcontractors and direct labour
- Strong knowledge of groundworks, drainage or highways construction
- Excellent organisational skills
- Strong leadership and communication abilities
- Ability to read construction drawings
- Experience managing multiple concurrent work activities
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
- Full UK Driving Licence
- SMSTS qualification
- CSCS Manager Card
- Willingness to travel regularly
- Desirable: experience delivering Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS)
- Desirable: experience working within school environments
- Desirable: NRSWA Supervisor
- Desirable: Temporary Works awareness
- Desirable: First Aid at Work
- Desirable: CAT & Genny training
- Desirable: Street Works experience
- Desirable: Environmental awareness training
- Desirable: Temporary Works Supervisor
- Desirable: IOSH Managing Safely
- Desirable: CPCS or NPORS Plant Competencies
