About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive Major Gifts strategy aligned with GVFB’s organizational priorities
- Shape and evolve the Major Gifts program infrastructure, including portfolio strategy, pipeline development, solicitation preparation, stewardship frameworks, and performance tracking
- Supervise, mentor, and provide guidance to the Major Gifts team
- Continue to develop and keep building compelling and innovative funding opportunities
- Establish annual and multi-year revenue goals and contribute to long-term income forecasting and campaign planning
- Personally manage a portfolio of high-value major donors and prospects
- Build and maintain a strong major gift pipeline for the department
- Lead and oversee the development of high-quality proposals and donor communications
- Proactively identify, research, and prioritize new major gift prospects
- Represent GVFB at events and in the community
- Oversee accurate tracking of all donor interactions
- Play a leadership role in capital campaign planning and execution
- Help build a culture of philanthropy across the organization
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of experience with Major Gifts or equivalent in a nonprofit fundraising environment
- 3+ years of experience in a people leadership role
- Proven track record of successful fundraising experience in the nonprofit sector
- Strong understanding and experience with nonprofit regulations, compliance and reporting
- Knowledge of national standards of ethical fundraising best practices, policies, and related guidelines
- Knowledge of emerging issues, trends, programs, and opportunities in fundraising, locally
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Experience with fundraising software, reporting and databases; Raiser’s Edge, iWave and ThankView experience is an asset
- Experience with online fundraising platforms and software is required
- Competency in reporting and data analysis is required
