About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to address clients' mental health and emotional needs.
  • Assess clients' psychological and social functioning to develop tailored treatment plans.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support during emergency situations as needed.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, social workers, and community resources to coordinate comprehensive care.
  • Stay current with best practices and continuing education to enhance counseling techniques and knowledge.
  • Educate clients and their families about coping strategies, mental health issues, and available resources.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • LPC, LSW, LPCC, or LISW Valid state licensure or certification as a professional counselor or equivalent credential in the United States.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing counseling services in a clinical or community setting.
  • Strong understanding of ethical guidelines and confidentiality requirements in counseling.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with diverse populations, including different age groups and cultural backgrounds.
  • Training or certification in specialized counseling approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Informed Care, or Substance Abuse Counseling.
  • Bilingual abilities or proficiency in a second language relevant to the community served.
  • Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and telehealth platforms.
  • Additional certifications in crisis intervention or mental health first aid.
