About the role
- Work primarily on Terraform-managed IaC, CI/CD pipelines, observability tooling, and databases
- Maintain and improve Terraform-managed infrastructure as the platform scales
- Implement automated and semi-automated scaling strategies for evolving workloads
- Lead infrastructure improvement projects (for example, ephemeral staging environments)
- Improve observability, reliability, and availability across the stack using Datadog, Sentry, and others
- Improve signal-to-noise, incident detection, and incident response across teams
- Collaborate with engineers to diagnose/fix performance issues and harden security
- Monitor and optimize cloud spend including budgeting and forecasting
- Enhance developer experience by reducing friction in local dev and CI, improving feedback loops, and investing in onboarding
Requirements
- 7+ years running critical production systems in the cloud
- Deep AWS knowledge (EC2, RDS, VPC, IAM) and cost-awareness
- Scaled and optimized PostgreSQL databases
- Managed and improved CI pipelines
- Experience with Terraform, GitHub Actions, Docker, Datadog, Sentry, Redis
- Familiarity with Rails, React, Sidekiq and scaling enterprise Ruby/Rails SaaS
- Enjoy building tools to improve developer productivity
