About the role

  • Work primarily on Terraform-managed IaC, CI/CD pipelines, observability tooling, and databases
  • Maintain and improve Terraform-managed infrastructure as the platform scales
  • Implement automated and semi-automated scaling strategies for evolving workloads
  • Lead infrastructure improvement projects (for example, ephemeral staging environments)
  • Improve observability, reliability, and availability across the stack using Datadog, Sentry, and others
  • Improve signal-to-noise, incident detection, and incident response across teams
  • Collaborate with engineers to diagnose/fix performance issues and harden security
  • Monitor and optimize cloud spend including budgeting and forecasting
  • Enhance developer experience by reducing friction in local dev and CI, improving feedback loops, and investing in onboarding

Requirements

  • 7+ years running critical production systems in the cloud
  • Deep AWS knowledge (EC2, RDS, VPC, IAM) and cost-awareness
  • Scaled and optimized PostgreSQL databases
  • Managed and improved CI pipelines
  • Experience with Terraform, GitHub Actions, Docker, Datadog, Sentry, Redis
  • Familiarity with Rails, React, Sidekiq and scaling enterprise Ruby/Rails SaaS
  • Enjoy building tools to improve developer productivity
  • Thrive in high-autonomy environments where ownership beats process
