About the role
- Primary contact for all technical inquiries and interface for assigned projects
- Aid in project management by overseeing technical aspects of all bid packs/bidding process
- Help project managers identify scope, track costs/schedule, ensure standards/quality are met throughout project
- Provide electrical cost estimates for new construction and maintenance projects
- Direct and/or develop design concepts and models from product specifications within cost and budget goals
- Coordinate all engineering efforts to meet budget and schedule for assigned projects
- Provide quality assurance on all projects and mark up as-built redlines to drawings upon completion
- Review/approve project design change orders
- Read and review P&IDs and electrical drawings such as one-line diagrams, panel wiring diagrams, instrument wiring diagrams
- Create electrical layout and design drawings of power, control, and communication systems using AutoCAD Electrical and AutoCAD Plant 3D
- Select and specify power distribution equipment, motor control equipment, and instrumentation & control equipment
- Apply NFPA 70 to electrical designs for permitting and inspections
- Design, implement, retrofit, and program PLCs using RS Logix 500/5000 and Studio 5000
- Integrate networking and field devices using Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP/IP, Modbus RTU/RS-485/RS-232, radio and fiber optic communications
- Design, implement, and maintain SCADA systems and HMIs
- Monitor and analyze equipment and system performance using data queries and trends
- Provide on-call support to troubleshoot equipment and system failures with maintenance team
- Perform calculations and checking/approval of drawing packages and calculations
- Participate in design reviews, maintain drawing database and vault, and confer with engineering management on project issues
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology is required for this position
- Suggested minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as an electrical/mechanical engineer or related position
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
- Candidates must be local to the area or willing to relocate for this position
- Successfully pass a pre-employment drug test (do not test for THC / marijuana)
- Ability to read and review P&IDs and electrical drawings such as one-line diagrams, panel wiring diagrams, instrument wiring diagrams
- Proficient in AutoCAD products such as AutoCAD Electrical and AutoCAD Plant 3D
- Knowledge and application of NFPA 70
- PLC programming experience using RS Logix 500, RS Logix 5000, and Studio 5000
- Experience integrating networking and field devices using Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP/IP, Modbus RTU/RS-485/RS-232, radio and fiber optic communications
- Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining SCADA systems
- Experience designing and implementing HMIs using Wonderware InTouch, C-more, Factory Talk View (Allen-Bradley PanelView)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, etc.)
