About the role
- Originate and commercially develop a profitable customer base aligned with sales and EBITDA targets
- Identify and pursue profitable customer opportunities through RFP and non-RFP channels
- Build and maintain relationships across the transportation, fuel, and freight industries
- Maintain an active presence at key industry events to drive lead generation
- Execute full bid process and submit competitive offers with sourcing options
- Strategically bundle fuel and freight to meet margin targets and win business
- Transition operational responsibilities of secured contracts to Customer Service
- Track and manage costs to ensure profitable margin contribution
- Maintain and update sales pipeline and CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce)
- Seek acquisition partners to expand capabilities and market reach
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field
- Minimum of 7 years of sales experience in the fuel industry, with a focus on end-user sales
- Comfortable with approximately 60% travel, including overnight and extended trips
- Proven success in originating new customers through RFP and non-RFP channels
- Experience using CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) to manage sales pipelines
- Strong understanding of pricing strategies and margin management
- Established relationships within the transportation industry; fuel and freight vendor relationships preferred
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Highly motivated with strong schedule management and independent work ethic
- Creative problem-solving abilities and a drive to exceed performance metrics
