About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide courteous and efficient reception service to residents, staff, and visitors
  • Serve as the central communication center during emergencies
  • Perform delegated administrative duties with supervisor approval
  • Handle phone and in-person interactions professionally and courteously
  • Maintain confidentiality and sensitivity
  • Monitor safety systems, emergency response systems, reception and lobby activity, and security cameras
  • Ensure staff respond promptly to situations and relay messages and urgent matters accurately
  • Maintain keys and pagers according to security procedures
  • Advise individuals about facility services
  • Respond to fire, severe weather, power outage, resident elopement, and 911 emergencies according to facility procedures
  • Complete copying, filing, typing, flyer distribution, brochure packing, mailing, marketing database updates, office supply maintenance, daily to-do lists, and staff meetings
  • Adhere to GLMC policies and procedures

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum 1 year of receptionist experience with a multiline phone system
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving and judgment skills
  • Ability to relate to the aging population
  • Computer skills with basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Pleasant phone manners with effective verbal and listening communication skills
  • Able to read, write, spell, perform basic math, speak, and understand English
  • Ability to sit and stand repeatedly and for prolonged periods
  • Ability to move, push, pull, and/or lift objects weighing 10 to 20 pounds
  • Ability to use hands and arms for grasping, pushing, pulling, and computer keyboard manipulation
  • Ability to walk, stoop, bend, lift, and carry objects
  • Ability to speak clearly and be understood in person, by phone, and through paging systems
  • Ability to see objects within 10 feet and see closely for directions, instructions, computer screens, and similar materials
  • Ability to hear normal sounds and voices with background noise
