Direct all aspects of ceded and assumed reinsurance accounting, including treaty and facultative processing, recoverables, payables, settlements, and Schedule F reporting.
Manage reinsurance accounting operations in EAS and NetSuite general ledgers; oversee journal entries, reconciliations, roll-forwards, and reporting both externally to our reinsurance partners and internally to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Oversee use of reinsurance accounting software for bordereaux, statement reconciliations, and recoverable tracking; partner with Tech to optimize integrations with the GL.
Drive an efficient, accurate monthly/quarterly close process; review reconciliations and journal entries.
Support GAAP and statutory financial reporting, including NAIC filings; serve as a primary contact for auditors and reinsurers.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Lead initiatives to automate and streamline reinsurance workflows, enhance data integrity, and strengthen internal controls.
Requirements
8–12+ years of progressive accounting experience in commercial P&C insurance/reinsurance, with at least 3–5 years in a management role.
Deep knowledge of reinsurance accounting (treaty & facultative, ceded & assumed).
Hands-on EAS general ledger experience.
Strong proficiency with reinsurance accounting software (e.g., Sapiens, SICS, SAP-FS-RI, or similar).
Solid grasp of GAAP and statutory/NAIC reporting requirements.
Demonstrated ability to lead teams, build processes, and partner effectively across Underwriting, and FP&A.
Strong problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and excellent written and verbal communication.
