About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Plan, source, purchase, and deliver equipment and materials for large-scale construction projects
- Serve as primary liaison between project teams, suppliers, sourcing specialists, and customers
- Ensure procurement activities align with project schedules, budgets, and technical requirements
- Oversee supplier performance, contract administration, risk mitigation, logistics coordination, and change management
- Support project teams with equipment and material procurement for large industrial construction projects
- Review shop drawings and submittals for scope-of-work compliance
- Manage risks related to cost guarantees, warranties, and purchase supply
- Compile purchase orders for internal approval and supplier execution
- Review invoices and track payments when needed
- Monitor material and equipment deliveries for price, quality, and specification conformance
- Interpret project schedules, provide updates, and forecast potential issues
- Mitigate late deliveries, supply-chain issues, and supplier-performance problems with sourcing teams
- Issue supplier change orders as required by design and project management
- Prepare progress analyses, schedules, and status reports
- Lead weekly meetings among procurement, technical teams, project management, and customers
- Establish and enforce procurement best practices with senior management
- Monitor compliance with purchasing policies and procedures
- Improve procurement processes and policies to address organizational and market changes
- Provide some supervisory leadership and mentoring
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of 3 years in project management, supply chain management, construction management, or logistics management
- A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of experience and education
- Knowledge of construction
- Familiarity with purchasing Electrical/Switchgear, Mechanical/HVAC, Plumbing/Piping & Equipment, Boilers/Air Compressors, Industrial/Tanks/Pumps, Specialty Process Equipment, Instruments/Controls, or Construction Materials is a plus
- Strong negotiation skills with proven results
- Commercial awareness with demonstrated budgeting, cost management experience, and risk exposure
- Ability to maintain and grow internal and external relationships and team management skills
- Genuine enthusiasm for building relationships, collaborating across teams, and ongoing professional development
- Experience leading and mentoring others
- Excellent communication, organizational, motivational, and problem-solving skills
- Disciplined approach to team participation
- Desire to grow and adapt to evolving departmental needs
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Self-disciplined and motivated
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Ability to quickly adapt to Procore, CMIC, Bluebeam, and other company-specific tools
- Proficiency in procurement software and tools
- Ability to be physically present in the Lexington office
- Ability to perform the stated physical demands, with reasonable accommodations where applicable
