About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Facilitate customer and team meetings; maintain and distribute meeting minutes and action-item registers
  • Ensure project start-up meetings occur with appropriate team members
  • Track project action items through completion
  • Ensure timely completion of submittal reviews, status reports, closeout documents, and maintenance manuals
  • Visit project sites regularly
  • Monitor project progress, budgets, and costs; identify issues and develop corrective actions
  • Develop project proposals and project-specific execution strategies
  • Coordinate execution strategy buy-in across Construction, A/E, MEP Services, and Field Operations
  • Monitor purchasing of materials, subcontracts, equipment, and services for savings while meeting safety, quality, schedule, training, and profitability requirements
  • Ensure proper issuance of subcontractor and customer change orders
  • Ensure accurate, timely completion and monthly review of red files and job-cost reports
  • Manage one large $200MM+ project, a highly complex project, or multiple construction projects
  • Oversee development and maintenance of master schedules
  • Assess schedule progress and develop corrective measures with Field Operations, A/E Services, and MEP Services
  • Document and communicate delays; prepare notices and schedule-extension documentation
  • Develop and monitor project risk-management plans and corrective measures
  • Ensure contractual terms and conditions are understood and acted upon
  • Promote and implement safety and quality programs
  • Serve as primary customer contact and account manager; manage escalations before Director-level escalation
  • Develop relationship-management and project-communication plans
  • Demonstrate Gray's core values and ensure workflow continuity
  • Mentor and train Senior Project Managers, Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, Project Engineers, and other staff
  • Foster cooperation among engineering, design, and construction-site teams
  • Communicate regularly with Project Executives and senior leadership
  • Supervise multiple team members and external resources

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university; or a minimum of ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of seven consecutive years total profit and loss accountability on multiple projects
  • Minimum of five years of experience managing all disciplines of design/build projects or hard bid projects
  • Experience with lump sum, GMP, cost plus construction management, and fee-based construction contracting methods
  • Understanding of legal aspects and implications of contractual language
  • Proven record increasing project profitability from initial project profit margin on multiple projects
  • Knowledge of engineering and design disciplines, associated costs and fees, and technical aspects sufficient to represent Gray as the primary customer contact
  • Knowledge of impacts of changes across design, engineering, and construction phases
  • Experience managing process or production equipment procurement or installation, or comparable mission critical, distribution, manufacturing, utilities, or equipment projects, with component value exceeding two million dollars per project
  • Knowledge of equipment components, systems, and installation procedures for estimates and proposals
  • Ability to mentor and train project staff
  • Proven experience developing aggressive project schedules
  • Proven experience preparing cost estimates for industrial design/build projects
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with owners, co-workers, vendors, suppliers, and community stakeholders
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business, professional, technical, and regulatory publications
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence and present information effectively
  • Ability to develop, interpret, and understand complex financial information
  • Basic business mathematical skills
  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret written, oral, or other instructions
  • Basic computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheet, and email applications
  • Working knowledge of scheduling and/or estimating applications may be required
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
