About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead mechanical design efforts for assigned projects, ensuring compliance with client requirements and building codes
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to develop integrated design solutions
- Perform advanced heating/cooling load calculations and energy code compliance assessments
- Collaborate with owners and project teams to ensure systems are cost-effective and explore value engineering options
- Use BIM and AutoCAD to incorporate designs into project models and drawings
- Select and specify mechanical equipment; design air distribution and piping systems
- Develop control drawings and system diagrams
- Update and maintain engineering design standards
- Perform and document design calculations for code and client-specification compliance
- Conduct quality control reviews of drawings, specifications, and calculations
- Collaborate with Project Managers and multidisciplinary teams to meet schedules and deliver coordinated design packages
- Review and respond to contractor RFIs, shop drawings, and product submittals
- Participate in client meetings and design reviews, providing technical input
- Support internal design standards and best practices
- Assist in mentoring junior engineers and designers
- Travel periodically to jobsites and perform other assigned duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an accredited college or university
- Professional Engineering License is required
- 5 to 7 years of experience in mechanical design within industrial or commercial projects
- Advanced proficiency in Bluebeam and 3D building modeling software such as Revit
- Experience with BIM workflows
- Knowledge of building codes and standards including IBC, ASHRAE, and NFPA
- Knowledge of client-specific design requirements
- Ability to perform load calculations and cost analysis using appropriate software
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills
- Proficiency in load calculation and cost analysis software
- Demonstrated leadership in mentoring junior engineers and managing design teams
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Energetic, self-motivated, and committed to professional development
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
- No visa sponsorship available
- Ability to traverse undeveloped terrain at jobsites
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Overtime may be required
