About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Oversee scheduling activities across all divisions and active projects-building out the scheduling Department for NexGen Contracting
  • Develop, manage, and maintain integrated master project schedules that establish engineering, procurement, fabrication, material delivery, commissioning, and construction sequences in accordance with contract requirements and project objectives.
  • Lead schedule development efforts during project planning and execution phases, collaborating with engineering, procurement, construction, subcontractors, vendors, and client stakeholders to ensure alignment with project milestones and deliverables.
  • Facilitate periodic schedule reviews and updates with project teams, subcontractors, equipment suppliers, and client representatives to ensure schedule accuracy and timely identification of potential impacts.
  • Analyze and validate logical relationships, critical path activities, schedule constraints, and resource requirements across complex industrial construction projects.
  • Serve as the project scheduling subject matter expert, providing guidance and recommendations to project leadership regarding schedule strategy, recovery planning, risk mitigation, and performance improvement opportunities.
  • Utilize advanced scheduling software, including Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project, to develop, maintain, and analyze cost-loaded and resource-loaded schedules.
  • Lead implementation and analysis of Earned Value Management (EVM) systems, integrating schedule and cost performance data to measure project progress and forecast outcomes.
  • Prepare and present executive-level schedule reports, dashboards, progress analyses, critical path assessments, and forecast completion scenarios to project management, clients, and senior leadership.
  • Perform schedule risk assessments, what-if analyses, and scenario planning to identify potential schedule impacts and recommend mitigation and recovery strategies.
  • Support contract administration efforts through schedule analysis, delay evaluations, time impact analyses, extension-of-time requests, and claims documentation when required.
  • Establish and maintain project scheduling standards, procedures, and best practices across multiple projects and project teams.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior schedulers and project controls personnel, supporting their professional development and ensuring consistency in scheduling practices.
  • Monitor project performance trends and proactively identify positive and negative impacts to project execution, communicating findings and recommendations to project leadership.
  • Conduct regular field visits to validate progress, verify installed quantities, assess productivity trends, and ensure schedule updates accurately reflect site conditions.
  • Develop and present visual planning tools, including look-ahead schedules, schedule simulations, progress curves, dashboards, and sequencing presentations to support project execution and stakeholder communication.
  • Produce detailed schedule analyses, variance reports, forecasting models, and impact assessments to support informed project decision-making.
  • Interface professionally with clients, contractors, subcontractors, regulatory agencies, and external stakeholders while representing the best interests of the organization.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business or related discipline.
  • Minimum seven (7) years of construction scheduling experience.
  • Leading scheduling efforts on large/and or multiple projects
  • Must be technically capable and experienced in the use of the most recent version(s) of Microsoft Project and Primavera (P6).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and excellence in customer service.
  • Detail oriented with effective organization and coordination skills.
  • Experience working in a team environment.
  • Computer knowledge and efficiency, including Microsoft Office products.
