About the role

  • Assist Senior Electrical Engineer in consulting with customer to determine functional and spatial requirements and prepare information regarding design, specifications, materials, and equipment
  • Assist with layout of project and integrate electrical engineering elements into unified design for client review and approval
  • Perform lighting calculations and layout designs using both manual calculations and Visual Lighting Computational software
  • Conduct energy analysis, power density and life cycle cost analysis for system selection and LEED credit calculation
  • Perform calculations and sizing of power distribution systems
  • Evaluate and design industrial grounding and lightning protection systems
  • Design and layout Building Communications, Signal and Fire Alarm systems
  • Assist in evaluation of submittals from Electrical Subcontractors and evaluate scope of work
  • Prepare scale drawings, contract documents and construction documents; conduct periodic on-site observation of work during construction to monitor compliance with plans
  • Prepare studies, reports, and project designs and plans using computer assisted design software (AutoCAD 2007; AutoCAD 2008 MEP and Revit MEP a plus)
  • Support construction phase and other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Students legally authorized to work in the U.S.; do not need current and/or future visa sponsorship
  • Knowledge of basic electrical power systems, life safety systems and lighting
  • Familiarity with the National Electrical Code
  • Drafting using AutoCAD 2007; AutoCAD 2008 MEP and Revit MEP a plus
  • Lighting calculations and layout using manual methods and Visual Lighting Computational software
