About the role
- Effectively assist design/build proposal teams to prepare and submit competitively priced proposals in a high-quality format that addresses the critical needs of the customer.
- Prepare conceptual budgets for customers, quickly and accurately with limited information, to help position chances for securing the project.
- Complete understanding of MEP divisions of work and extract required information from customers to develop a Request for Proposal.
- Analyze MEP subcontractor proposals to confirm the criteria and scope are being satisfied.
- Precisely communicate Gray’s culture, competencies, and value-added programs such as safety, quality, preconstruction, design/build services, and market strengths.
- Provide market research, project lead evaluations, risk analysis and participate with strategic sales and department planning.
- Seek new customers and manage existing customers in conjunction with the company’s overall business development strategies.
- Review data and blueprints to determine material and labor requirements and prepare itemized lists of cost estimates.
- Compute cost factors and prepare estimates used for planning, organizing, scheduling work, preparing bids, change order pricing, vendor or subcontractor agreements, and determining cost effectiveness.
- Conduct special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or effect cost reductions.
- Consult with customers, subcontractors, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
- Review shop drawings and submittals to ensure compliance with scope of work.
- Communicate and coordinate with Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers and Estimators to ensure proposal accuracy and scope.
- Size up opportunities and make Go/No Go recommendations on limited information.
- Indirectly manage team members supporting proposals and outside consultants.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; and a minimum of ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in the Construction industry is required.
- Must possess basic computer skills including the ability to utilize word processing, spreadsheet and e-mail applications.
- May be required to utilize software applications specific to the estimating field.
- Energetic, self-motivated individual who enjoys a team environment; passion for collaboration and professional development.
- Ability to indirectly manage team members supporting proposals and outside consultants.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and arms, reach, and talk or hear.
- Regularly required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch; may occasionally be required to climb or balance.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision.
- Overtime may be required.
