About the role

  • Assist MEP Project Manager in locating and evaluating potential subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Assist in developing scopes of work for review and approval of MEP Project Manager.
  • Assist in the development of MEP project schedule within the entire construction schedule.
  • Prepare estimates in areas of MEP self-performed work, and assist in complete project estimate.
  • Coordinate/management of all trades throughout build process; assist in selection of qualified bidders and negotiate final prices.
  • Assist in the preparation of various reports, i.e. cost to complete, monthly billings and status reports.
  • Review all drawings, i.e. P&IDs, Mechanical, Electrical, Shop, Architectural, Structural, etc. when they are issued to the field and coordinate and maintain a current set at all times.
  • Assist in pricing work, draft changes and change orders to be reviewed by MEP Project Manager.
  • Coordinate and manage on-site construction activities from pre-start-up to completion; schedule work, including subcontractors.
  • Assist in the productivity and quantity tracking of the subcontractors installed work; determine materials, equipment and tools needed; secure appropriate supply sources.
  • Set up and close out construction site; Responsible for procurement of tools and materials to be delivered at specified times to conform to work schedules.
  • Serve as on-site Safety Officer when one is not specifically assigned to the project; participate in the company’s safety portion of the QMS program and ensure Gray’s safety program and QMS are implemented and enforced on site.
  • Confers with and directs supervisory personnel and subcontractors; consults to resolve complaints and grievances within the work force.
  • Prepares or reviews reports on progress, materials used and costs, and adjusts work schedules as indicated by reports and/or direction from MEP Project Manager.
  • Establish and maintain high safety and quality standards; generate reports and traceability for continuous improvement.
  • Supervise interviewing, hiring, training, performance appraisal, rewarding and disciplining team members; take ownership of training newer team members.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school AND a minimum of ten (10) years of construction experience OR a minimum 15 years related construction experience with increasing responsibility in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience within the light/heavy industrial sector highly desired.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, communication, and problem solving skills.
  • Must be able to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings, financial reports, and legal/contract documents.
  • Strong people management skills; may lead multiple subordinate supervisors and other support staff.
  • Basic computer skills including the ability to utilize Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.), tablets and smartphones.
  • MS Project and other scheduling software a plus.
  • Must possess a strong work ethic and be an energetic, self-motivated individual who enjoys a team environment, as well as a passion for collaboration and professional development.
  • Must posses the ability to think for his/herself and be able to manage without direction having to be given.
  • This position requires travel as our projects are scattered throughout the United States and, in some cases outside of the U.S..
