Material Handler

Technician

• Responsible for assembly and disassembly of paper converting equipment along with testing and debugging of mechanical/electrical devices for proper operation
• Installing and repairing all electrical devices within the plant.
• Performing breakdown repairs, preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, etc. on all production equipment, utilities, building/grounds, etc.
• Completing parts requisitions, work orders, time sheets, in Computerized Maintenance Management System.
• Disassembling defective electrical equipment, replacing defective or worn parts, and reassembling equipment.
• Responsible for replacing all fuses, light sockets, bulbs and switches
• Working independently and on teams.
• Demonstrating safe work practices.
• Use PLCs for routine troubleshooting.
• Understand and complete all associated paperwork.
• Adhere to preventative/predictive maintenance schedules.
• Read and work from mechanical and electrical blueprints
• Other duties as assigned.

Maintenance Technician

Operator

• Observes company safety rules and complies with safety practices
• Assists in safe and efficient operation of printers, metalizers, laminators, cutters, gluers, and all support equipment
• Aids in identifying and resolving process and machine problems
• Participates in make-ready preparation for assigned equipment
• Prepares necessary reports as required to accomplish production goals
• Performs general housekeeping functions in assigned area
• Responsible for compliance with all facility food safety, food defense, and quality policies and procedures including product safety (GMPs)/Sanitation policies and procedures.

Operator Assistant

• Perform all the material handling responsibilities on the manufacturing floor, between all departments in a safe manner.
• Work with department teams to follow their schedules in order to meet all material handling responsibilities.
• Stage loads of product.
• Pallet management to include pallet removal and placement for palletizing.
• Stretch-wrap loads to prepare for shipment.
• Corrugate at packing end of gluers.
• Palletize and wrap the roll cores for transportation.
• Load roll cores on scrap trailer.
• Dispose of printed waste once the teams have documented the waste.
• Help teams keep area neat and clean: sweep, re-pile pallets, fix broken pallets, etc.
• Complete daily forklift maintenance and communicate problems to warehouse crew.
• Notify warehouse when dumpster is full.

• Create paper blanks for the cups.
• Ensure a stable food supply.

Blanker Operator

• Assisting the Pressman in operating and maintaining the printing press efficiently, safely and accurately.
• Ability to read and interpret job jacket information on upcoming jobs.
• Operates pallet jack to move skids from raw material warehouse to press room.
• Loads skids of sheeted board on press conveyer and maintains conveyer during entire production run.
• Responds to Pressman with special requests during press make ready.
• Responsible for filling press chemicals, loading inks, and refilling process inks when needed.
• Ensures proper disposal of press waste and maintains cleanliness in the press area.

Press Helper

• Operates and holds overall responsibility for product outcomes associated with straight-line gluers.
• Operates and holds overall responsibility for product outcomes associated with straight-line gluers, promotional gluers, and related peripheral converting equipment.
• Interprets and documents standards related to equipment and product performance/quality
• Maintains equipment
• Leader of assigned crew members
• Supervision for position is random and minimal
• Performs equipment operations, adjustments, tests, and conversions of all primary/peripheral equipment associated with converting operations.
• Motivates crewmembers to ensure quality, efficiency, area cleanliness, safety and SQF standards are maintained.
• Tests and inspects products are required to ensure consistent quality and operational standards
• Verifies and communicates both product standards and work standards to execute production
• Maintains equipment by performing minor maintenance, troubleshooting, calibrations, adjustments, repairs, and authorized modifications.
• Performs other organizational duties as required.

Gluer Operator

• Participates in overall product outcome associated with web offset presses
• Interprets and documents standards related to product performance/quality
• Assists in the maintenance and set up of equipment for customer product
• Able to fill in as Assistant Press Operator if needed
• Supervision for position is random.
• Sets up materials for press operation
• Assist in the performance of equipment operators, adjustments, tests and conversions on all equipment associated with converting operators.
• Participates in maintaining department integrity to ensure consistent quality and operational standards are maintained.
• Verifies and communicates both product standards and work standards to execute production
• Performs other organizational duties as required.

Roll Tender – Feeder

• Assist in operation of assigned and support equipment, including sheeters, printers, cutters, and gluers
• Observes company safety rules and complies with safety practices
• Aids in identifying and resolving process and machine problems
• Participate in make-ready preparation for assigned equipment
• Prepares necessary reports as required to accomplish production goals
• Performs general housekeeping functions in assigned area
• Responsible for compliance with all facility food safety, food defense, and quality policies and procedures
• Promote orderliness and cleanliness of work area
• Supports GPI’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values
• Involved in GPI efforts for LEAN, 5’s, Six Sigma and other Continuous Improvement programs and processes

Feeder-Catcher

• Operate and Maintain a Bobst basket gluer.
• Complies with all company and department safety, quality, productivity and security procedures.
• Ensures accuracy in recording of operator documentation involving all aspects of the assigned machine. This includes production reports, specification verification, quality requirements, machine logbooks, checklists and SAP.
• Monitors machine for inefficient operation and makes adjustments as necessary or notifies and assists (as needed) the lead operator in resolution of such issues.
• Understands and operates glue monitoring and control systems on the machines.
• Understands and participates in the Standard Work system and takes full ownership of working environment.
• Communicates all machine and department issues effectively to supervisors, converting manager and lead operators and presents data based solutions in keeping with Continuous Improvement Objectives.
• Will show up for work between 5 and 15 minutes prior to shift start time, unless otherwise directed by supervisor or converting manager.
• Responsible for communicating to printing / cutting operators regarding quality issues with the printed and/or cut material.
• Will assist in "breaking out" operators as needed.
• Understands and monitors the quality of product being produced and maintains per requirements.
• Participates in lean manufacturing teams and contributes to the overall process improvement in a cross functional basis.
• Ability to enter information into SAP and utilize ei3 system.
• Perform other duties as required.

Finishing Operator

• Operates production machinery in accordance with company standards
• Make-ready, adjusts and runs job as efficiently as possible to meet safety and productivity standards
• Produces the required quantity of parts within established specifications and tolerances
• Obtains job tickets and reviews prior to running orders
• Measures finished parts with precision tools, ensuring compliance with function, quality, and cosmetic specifications
• Maintains logs and records of units produced including a record of errors resulting in rejected or discarded pieces
• Inspects equipment prior to use to ensure proper setup and alignment; performs basic and routine adjustments and maintenance
• Maintains a clean, safe and orderly work area
• Ensures that appropriate contact relief is made, and machine hands-off occurs during shift changes
• Works as a leader of the crew, overseeing operator assistants, feeders, packers, and inspectors working on the machine

• Operate and maintain unwind/rewind of press.
• Complies with all company and department safety, quality, productivity and security procedures.
• Ensures accuracy and compliance of operator documentation involving all aspects of the assigned machines.
• This includes production reports, specification verification, quality requirements, machine logbooks and checklists.
• Safely operates a forklift.
• Completes quality checks on rolls before mounting on press.
• Sets up and maintains auto splicing unit.
• Scans production order into RFGN.
• Strips cores.
• Communicates all machine and department issues effectively to department manager and supervisors.
• Presents data based solutions in keeping with Continuous Improvement Objectives.
• Removes empty cores and prepares for shipment and the Press Rewind.
• Perform change overs and sets up roll stand for different roll widths.
• Performs other duties as assigned by department manager, supervisor, or lead operator.
• Understands and monitors the 5S system and takes full ownership of working environment.
• Assists when possible in keeping WIP materials to a minimum.
• Assists crew members with make-ready activities to include: change plates, dr. blades, ink etc.
• Completes preventative and routine maintenance on splicer unit.
• Assists Flexo crew members as needed.
• Must be willing to accept training and feedback as needed (for compliance with job requirements).

Press Technician

• Preparing and running the cutting machine as efficiently as possible while overseeing the quality of products processed
• Responsible for press make ready: adjust press to accommodate for new product sheets being cut (set feeder, lock up die, set stripper, blanker, and delivery)
• Inspect quality of each load run: checking random sheets from each cut load to ensure quality
• Flag and isolate poorly produced materials when cutting problems are encountered
• Maintain written records of production: records of waste, production time, waiting time etc.
• Responsible for running press as efficiently as possible

Cutting Operator

• Responsible for daily operations of sheeting equipment
• Following the current control plan specifications and matrix requirements
• Entering rolls into PEAK and SAP as well as reconciling sheeted material
• Checking for proper size, job number, customer name, stock type and caliper
• Managing all make readies, change overs, back side printing on equipment
• Overseeing all control plan specification requirements, caliper, de-curl, and sheets square
• Responsible for housekeeping, maintenance, work orders, belt replacement etc.
• Must be able to obtain fork truck certification

Sheeter Operator

• The person who occupies this position is responsible for assisting Press - 1st Operator with running printing press and with maintaining top quality printing.
• Press – 2nd Operator understand and align business operations and Finishing Department as he/she executes their role to exceed customer expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial and operational objectives.
• Job functions include, but are not limited to, the following: To assist Press - 1st Operator with maintaining quality of printed sheets.
• Examine for proper color, register, copy, position and detect unnecessary markings per the Printing Department Control Plan.
• To assist the Press – 1st Operator with determining the cause of printing problems and adjust press to correct these issues.
• Responsible to assist in the maintenance of the press.
• Keep water tank, ink fountain and blanket wash units full.
• Responsible to assist crew in press-make readies by: Preparing materials needed for new printing job.
• Assisting with cleaning of press.
• Wash blankets, clean and rinse fountain rollers.
• Clean dampening rollers. Remove old plates, install new plates and fill ink fountains.
• Responsible for performing duties of Press - 1st Operator or Feeder when needed in order to keep press running.
• Assist with monthly Preventative Maintenance which includes cleaning, greasing and oiling the press.
• Rollers are changed when necessary.
