About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • A Blanker Operator is responsible for maintaining the operation of the Blanking Department by producing blanks required by the blanker schedule.
  • Blanker Operators will inspect the assigned blanker (machine) to ensure all guards are in place, assess roll alignment, brakes, housekeeping and paperwork before starting production.
  • Blanker Operator will ensure quality through visual inspection of the blank along with making machine adjustments on an as needed basis.
  • The Blanker Operator is required to complete roll changes or print changes on the machine and will also unstack the blanks from the machine and load them onto a blank cart.
  • Blanker Operators monitor the quality of the blanks and print quality continuously during production and will report potential quality issues.
  • All employees must follow all Graphic Packaging International work rules, code of conduct and safety procedures and policies.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 1-2 years’ experience manufacturing/industrial machine operator experience required
  • Must be able to walk to retrieve blank cart and take the cart to their work station and to the warehouse throughout their shifts as needed.
  • Surfaces are mostly concrete.
  • Prior experience utilizing pallet jack — highly preferred
  • Must be able to use pallet jacks when moving full carts as well as to move paper rolls.
  • The maximum force exerted to push/pull a cart is approximately 35 pounds of force (as measured with a push/pull gauge).
  • The distance an item is pushed is approximately 5 feet – 30 feet, depending on the location of the employees work station.
  • Must be able to climb on small step ladders to remove paper jams in the machines.
  • This occurs rarely throughout the shift.
  • The Operator may also need to climb the back of the machine to make adjustments.
  • Must be able to forward bend momentarily up to 90 degrees.
  • Much of the bending performed, however, is slight forward bending for brief periods.
  • Must be able to reach between waist and shoulder height which occurs occasionally throughout the shift basis.
  • Must have the ability to work in a high paced and multi-task environment.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Overtime will be required as necessary including weekends.
