About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Guide and oversee ASIRT's Level 1 investigative team
Provide daily direction, guidance and oversight on complex criminal investigations utilizing the principles of Major Case Management
Lead the development of investigative policies and procedures
Provide recommendations to ASIRT's Director of Investigations/ Executive Director
Supervise an investigative team, including evaluating daily work and completing performance assessments
Manage unit financial resources in accordance with government procedures
Develop and maintain ASIRT's credibility and working relationships with various external bodies

Requirements

What you’ll need

A university graduate degree in a field related
Six years of progressively responsible investigative experience
Advanced knowledge of the Police Act, Criminal Code, Canada Evidence Act and other applicable legislation
Formal training and experience in the application of major case management principles and practices in relation to criminal investigations is preferred
Experience developing successful working relationships across a wide variety of stakeholders
Practical working knowledge of effective change management
Experience with human and financial resource management
Senior management experience in a policing environment
Significant leadership experience in serious persons crimes and project-based investigations, utilizing advanced/covert investigative techniques within a Major Case Management framework
