About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build the platform behind the maps that power an entire province.
- Shape and operate the Government of Alberta’s enterprise GIS platform.
- Lead the configuration, extension, and operation of enterprise geospatial technologies.
- Manage ArcGIS Enterprise and enterprise geodatabases.
- Develop integrations, services, and deployment pipelines.
- Guide engineering decisions and mentor team members.
- Apply and evolve with AI to deliver smarter geospatial services.
Requirements
What you’ll need- A university graduation in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
- A minimum of two (2) years of related experience in:
- Administering multi-tier enterprise GIS platforms and enterprise geodatabases (SQL Server or PostgreSQL/PostGIS).
- Owning end-to-end software development lifecycle for geospatial applications using Python and JavaScript.
- Building integration services and ETL pipelines ingesting and publishing authoritative geospatial datasets.
- Automating platform administration through CI/CD, configuration management, and scripting.
- Experience in operating production support for multi-tenant geospatial services.
- Experience in implementing security controls for enterprise GIS platform.
- Experience in supporting high-availability and disaster recovery for enterprise GIS platforms.
- Experience in applying AI in geospatial engineering and operations.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Experience in AI-accelerated GIS web application development is an asset.
