About the role
- Build and maintain backend services that power Bid Match, focusing on scalability and reliability
- Scrape, ingest, and integrate new government data sources into the platform
- Refine and tune the recommendation engine to maximize accuracy and relevance
- Develop tools to normalize, sanitize, and manage large volumes of government data
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to define and deliver data-driven features
- Ensure government data corpus is clean, normalized, and ready for analysis
Requirements
- Strong backend development skills in TypeScript/Node.js
- Experience with web scraping and data integration
- Comfort working with large, messy, real-world datasets
- Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced startup environment
- Interest in recommendation systems or data science (bonus points)
- Knowledge of government contracting data or other public-sector data sources (bonus points)
- 2+ years of professional work experience
- Experience building a large-scale platform for web and mobile apps
- Strong CS knowledge
- Bonus: experience with large language models
- Product ownership and customer-focused problem solving
