About the role
- Develop and maintain integrated project plans for all product ‑ related deliverables and modernization activities.
- Lead the planning, design, implementation, and testing phases in alignment with VA project objectives and OIT standards.
- Define technical and functional requirements; oversee deployment planning and execution.
- Coordinate day ‑ to ‑ day activities of multidisciplinary technical teams, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, cost, and quality standards.
- Manage vendor integrations, review contractor deliverables, and ensure compliance with VA quality and security requirements.
- Develop, validate, and maintain Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) using MS Project or equivalent tools.
- Generate schedule dashboards and reports to communicate progress, risks, and dependencies.
- Monitor program risks, issues, and mitigation plans; escalate concerns to leadership when needed.
- Serve as the primary liaison with VA business owners, OIT organizations, VISN/VAMC representatives, and product stakeholders.
- Prepare and deliver clear, executive ‑ level presentations, briefings, and status reports, translating technical information into actionable insights.
- Facilitate recurring meetings (IPTs/APTs, working groups, sprint reviews, vendor syncs) and track all action items to closure.
- Support program planning and resource forecasting across the product line.
- Maintain project repositories including SharePoint, MS Teams, and other collaboration systems.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, evaluating opportunities to enhance processes, workflows, and product delivery outcomes.
- Apply IT project management best practices (PMBOK, Agile, SAFe, ITIL) to guide project teams and ensure compliance with VA policies.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in computer science, electronics engineering or other engineering or technical discipline is required with 10 years of experience - (or an additional 10 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree).
- 5 years of professional experience including IT project management, product delivery, or technical program support.
- Demonstrated experience managing large and small IT projects across the full systems development lifecycle.
- Experience with strategic information planning, business process reengineering, cloud services, and enterprise testing strategies.
- Strong technical communication skills, capable of producing clear, succinct, and accurate documentation, briefings, and visualizations.
- Ability to obtain and maintain VA public‑trust or higher‑level clearance.
