About the role
- Support management and maintenance of Veterans Affairs IT infrastructure
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and networking issues and ensure optimal performance and security
- Execute scheduled maintenance and upgrade activities
- Collaborate with stakeholders, government leadership, and engineering teams to design, maintain, and optimize server environments
- Proactively monitor system performance, diagnose issues, and implement solutions to enhance reliability and security
- Oversee access controls, backups, and firewall management to ensure security compliance
- Lead administration of network servers and technology tools and establish/configure user accounts and workstations
- Execute system upgrades and maintain internal documentation and monthly POA&Ms for ATO packages
Requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain a suitability/public trust clearance
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field with 12+ years of relevant experience (or commensurate experience)
- Proven problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with customers and internal cross-functional teams
- Knowledge of consolidating national clinical and administrative datasets
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and project management tools
- Evaluate and resubmit controls for Authority to Operate validation on an annual basis
- Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and firewall configurations
- Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure
- Effective written and oral communication skills
