About the role
- Support the management and maintenance of Veterans Affairs IT infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and networking issues, ensuring optimal performance and security.
- Execute scheduled maintenance and upgrade activities.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, government leadership, and engineering teams to design, maintain, and optimize server environments.
- Monitor system performance, diagnose issues, and implement solutions to enhance reliability and security.
- Oversee access controls, backups, and firewall management to ensure security compliance.
- Administer network servers and technology tools, establishing/configuring user accounts and workstations.
- Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations and policies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field with 8+ years of relevant experience (or commensurate experience)
- Proven problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with customers and internal cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of consolidating national clinical and administrative datasets.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and project management tools.
- Evaluate and resubmit controls for Authority to Operate validation on an annual basis.
- Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and firewall configurations.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Suitability/Public Trust clearance.
