About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Work closely with partners and associates on all phases of complex litigation
Prepare matters for hearings, trials, arbitrations, and mediations
Assist in representing leading companies in software and technology disputes
Assist with matters involving cybersecurity incidents, data privacy issues, intellectual property, and technology-driven business conflicts
Conduct legal research and analysis
Draft clear and persuasive written work product
Participate in client interactions and appearances at hearings, depositions, and trials
Manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment
Work independently and collaboratively within a team of attorneys and legal professionals

Requirements

What you’ll need

Enrollment in an ABA-accredited law school
Strong academic credentials and demonstrated achievement
Minimum 3.60 GPA
Active membership on a law review or journal
Experience in legal writing, cite-checking, and substantive editing
Anticipated J.D. graduation date of May 2028
Demonstrated interest in litigation, cybersecurity, data privacy, insurance coverage, and/or technology-related legal issues
Excellent legal research, analytical, and writing skills
Ability to synthesize complex legal and factual issues into clear and persuasive written work product
Strong oral communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to communicate effectively with attorneys, clients, and third parties in a professional environment
Ability to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and exercise sound judgment
High level of professionalism, initiative, and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Prior litigation, judicial clerkship, internship, or law firm experience preferred but not required
Availability to work in-office on designated days in the Chicago office; remote applicants will not be considered
