About the role
- Own the end-to-end category strategy and financial performance for Alcohol across the Central and West regions
- Develop a deep understanding of Gopuff’s on-demand and retail (BevMo!) businesses, internal processes, and assortment architecture
- Manage revenue and margin performance against budget, including OTB ownership and presentation in cross-functional forums
- Lead product selection, pricing, positioning, promotions, and go-to-market execution across Beer, Wine, and Spirits
- Build and execute merchandising and category strategies that drive sales growth, margin expansion, and key performance metrics
- Monitor performance across multiple classes, markets, and locations, using data to inform actionable, forward-looking strategies
- Leverage internal and external data sources to make informed, data-driven decisions that drive incremental sales and profitability
- Serve as the primary point of contact for supplier partners and new business opportunities, including negotiations and relationship management
- Develop localized assortment strategies that reflect regional volume, size, distribution needs, consumer preferences, and regulatory considerations
- Partner closely with Supply Chain, Pricing, Finance, and Marketing to maximize revenue and financial targets within each classification
- Conduct national and local competitive pricing and assortment analysis to ensure strong market positioning while meeting margin objectives
- Stay current on industry, consumer, and competitive trends within the alcohol category, applying insights to strategy and execution
- Ensure category decisions align with applicable state and local alcohol regulations
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; Merchandising, Business, or Economics preferred
- 7+ years of experience in Retail Buying, Merchandising, or Category Management, with deep experience in the Alcohol industry
- Strong proficiency in Excel (required); SQL experience a plus
- Solid understanding of Supply Chain, Marketing, Pricing, and Financial Planning principles
- Proven ability to own results, take initiative, and operate with accountability in a fast-moving environment
- Strong sense of urgency with the ability to react quickly to changing business needs
- Experience managing, training, and developing talent, either through direct people leadership or matrixed teams
