About the role
- Provide support for key business development initiatives as determined by the Client Development team in partnership with the firm’s Supreme Court and Appellate practice
- Assist with tracking and summarizing Supreme Court and appellate matters
- Develop familiarity with the work of the Supreme Court by analyzing Supreme Court arguments, opinions, and pending cases in the Supreme Court and courts of appeals
- Perform background research about clients, potential clients, and cases, including monitoring an array of current news sources and blog posts as well as online databases
- Develop and maintain presentation and webinar materials, including Supreme Court previews, Supreme Court reviews, and presentations regarding Supreme Court and appellate matters
- Support the process of developing pitches, proposals, marketing materials, and RFP responses, primarily for Supreme Court and appellate matters
- Working with the Client Development team, perform basic competitive intelligence and marketing research in preparation for client and prospect meetings, pitches/proposals, and other business development initiatives
- Monitor industry news/developments, and assist in identifying thought leadership opportunities
- Maintain practice marketing materials, including practice group descriptions, brochures, slide decks, client alerts, and practice-specific lists
- Provide support for both in-person and virtual events and presentations
- Develop a strong understanding of essential firm technologies, software, and websites including Microsoft Dynamics, Foundation, PACER, and Westlaw
- Additional responsibilities as needed to support Client Development and work of Goodwin’s litigation teams overall
Requirements
- BA, BS, or equivalent
- Undergraduate experience with law-related courses and/or extracurriculars is preferred, as well as an interest in attending law school
- Some experience (co-op, internships, entry-level experience) in communications or marketing and in a professional services environment is a plus
- Experience in empirical data gathering and analysis is preferred
- Excellent writing, editing, and analytical skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong interest in learning about the U.S. Supreme Court
- Positive attitude with the ability to think objectively and creatively, and to work both independently and within a team
- Ability to manage multiple projects while prioritizing assignments
- Strong computer and research skills, including web-based research.
