About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

The design, development and maintenance of all backend services as well as our Backend for Frontend abstraction layer
Connecting and maintaining any 3rd party services that are essential to our business
Act as a resource for other engineers, as well as product managers regarding all things backend
Collaborating with frontend engineers on how to best serve and visualize data
Writing and distributing clear documentation regarding architectural choices and processes
Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture.
Stay up-to-date with the latest technology in backend development, with a focus on scalability, and apply this knowledge to tackle complex problems in innovative ways.
Facilitate effective communication between the development team and other departments.

Requirements

What you’ll need

You have a Bachelor or Masters in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience
You have 5+ years of development experience with a focus on performance, scalability and observability.
You have 3 to 5 years of experience writing code in Python
You have experience with frameworks like FastAPI, Flask and Django
Previous experience with data engineering is a big plus
You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and maintain relationships at all levels within the organization
Python, FastAPI & SQLAlchemy experience (bonus, but not required).
Familiarity with Dart & Flutter (our mobile app tech stack).
Contributions to open source or public tech talks/blog posts.
Prior mentorship or interview experience.
