About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide commercially focused legal advice to Good Energy’s Solar Services business across construction, installation, procurement, supplier, subcontractor and project delivery matters
  • Develop trusted partnerships and act as the go-to legal advisor for commercial contracts and legal support
  • Draft, review and negotiate JCT-based contracts, installation frameworks, supplier agreements, subcontractor terms, procurement documents, customer-facing terms and project documentation
  • Support the development of recurring service, maintenance and subscription-based propositions
  • Manage legal and commercial risks, including contract governance, supplier management, template agreements and escalation routes
  • Advise on scope changes, delays, payment issues, defects, performance concerns, termination rights and dispute avoidance during project delivery
  • Support supply chain risk management involving warranties, liabilities, service levels, delivery obligations, indemnities, insurance and product quality
  • Collaborate with Services, Procurement, Finance, Operations, Propositions and other stakeholders
  • Manage external legal advisers on specialist construction, procurement and project delivery matters
  • Assist with training and guidance on contract risk, procurement processes, dispute avoidance and escalation procedures
  • Provide pragmatic legal recommendations aligned with operational and commercial objectives
  • Support wider commercial contracting activity across the business as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Legally qualified professional
  • Experience providing pragmatic legal support in construction, procurement, supply chain, installation, facilities, energy services or similar project-based environments
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills across commercial contracts
  • Ideally experience with JCT contracts, framework agreements, supplier and subcontractor terms, and project delivery documentation
  • Experience working in a business-facing legal role supporting operational, procurement, commercial and project delivery teams
  • Strong understanding of legal and commercial risk involving scope, specification, payment, delays, defects, quality, insurance, termination and dispute resolution
  • Sound judgement in resolving or escalating issues appropriately
  • Ability to balance commercial priorities with legal and operational risk
  • Ability to support live operational issues pragmatically
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to contracting and risk allocation
  • Understanding of construction, installation, procurement and supply chain environments
  • Strong communication and influencing skills
  • Ability to build trusted relationships across commercial, procurement, operational, finance and legal teams
  • Comfortable making decisions and providing clear recommendations under pressure
  • Able to work independently while escalating material risks appropriately
  • Full-time availability for 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
  • Ability to attend the Chippenham office once a week based on location
  • In-house experience is desirable
  • Experience in energy, renewables, facilities or similar sectors is desirable
