About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct technical evaluations of proposed project sites to determine suitability for facility construction
  • Analyze subsurface conditions including soil characteristics, groundwater conditions, slope stability, settlement potential, and bearing capacity
  • Develop and review foundation recommendations based on geotechnical investigations
  • Coordinate site grading, earthwork, excavation, retaining structures, drainage systems, and stormwater management designs
  • Review geotechnical engineering reports and civil site designs prepared by consultant A/E firms
  • Ensure engineering designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and accepted geotechnical engineering practices
  • Coordinate utility distribution layouts including domestic water, fire protection, wastewater, lift stations, storm drainage, and related infrastructure
  • Serve as the technical authority for complex geotechnical engineering issues affecting construction feasibility, long-term facility performance, and project costs

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible geotechnical engineering experience
  • Experience performing site evaluations and reviewing geotechnical reports for large commercial, institutional, industrial, or federal projects
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain DOJ/BOP suitability and facility access
