About the role

  • Work as a member of the HR department in a rapidly changing, complex and fast-paced commercial environment
  • Serve as consultant/partner within the Corporate Headquarters in Juneau, AK, for assigned subsidiaries and corporate entities on all Human Resources related matters
  • Align best HR practices to business strategies
  • Rapidly react to and resolve issues and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Foster and maintain internal relationships, coach for performance improvement, advise and negotiate in conflict situations, and assist in organizational effectiveness efforts
  • Deliver full life-cycle HR solutions in key areas, such as recruiting, employee relations, performance management, and training and development
  • Work collaboratively with the HR Manager and all levels of management to implement HR policies, practices and procedures as assigned
  • Provide full cycle recruitment support for both seasonal and permanent positions for Alaska Operations
  • Onboarding and offboarding employees including new hire and benefits paperwork and orientation
  • Onboarding new managers and site leads for respective LLCs
  • Assist supervisors in handling performance and discipline matters and provide information on progressive discipline, evaluation procedures, and complaint and grievance procedures
  • Conduct fact-finding personnel investigations and prepare draft reports and recommendations
  • Prepare and review letters of performance expectation, instruction, warning, reprimand, suspension and termination
  • Facilitate dispute resolution within the assigned business area
  • Interpret and apply employment laws, benefit plans, human resource related policies and procedures, and terms of collective bargaining and employment agreements
  • Serve as a resource for technical HR and payroll staff by providing guidance and direction on personnel and benefit processing functions
  • Ensure accuracy and conduct data entry of benefit enrollments and data entry in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information and maintain accurate employee and position information for payroll and HR records
  • Assist with employee benefit questions and concerns and open enrollment
  • Assist employees with Leave Management (STD/LTD/FMLA/Military) and help monitor claims
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to front and mid-level leaders and employees
  • Support development and strategic implementation of policies, procedures and tools to support performance management, communication and relationship building
  • Maintain legally compliant personnel documentation and records management
  • Manage Workers’ Compensation plan administration and claims and provide audit support for worker’s comp, 401k
  • Assist with federal compliance reporting of VETS 4212, EEO1, ACA and AAP

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management or related field
  • Minimum 5+ years of Human Resource experience
  • Must have broad HR expertise, strong business acumen, and be able to think big-picture and be resourceful in creating solutions
  • Must be able to diagnose and support data-driven decision-making and have demonstrated experience leading and driving change within client groups
  • Must possess good project management and organizational skills
  • Must be able to interact with a wide variety of staff and senior management
  • Ability to embrace change, learn quickly, and thrive in a dynamic corporate environment
  • Skill in working harmoniously within cross-functional teams to achieve common objectives
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines
  • Possesses attention to detail and effective problem-solving skills
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically, both verbally and in writing
  • Strong cultural awareness and sensitivity, with the ability to adapt messages and strategies for diverse audiences
  • Basic understanding of relevant software, tools, and systems used in the corporate environment, including proficiency in Windows and MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Preferred: SHRM-CP; SHRM-SCP; PHR or SPHR
  • Preferred: ADP Workforce Now and Deltek experience
  • Preferred: iCIMS experience
  • Preferred: Experience working for a Government contractor or other highly-regulated environment
  • Preferred: Previous experience working with Alaska Native Corporations (ANCs) and/or previous exposure to Alaska Native cultures.
