About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Examine and treat patients
- Take patients' medical histories
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests and X-rays
- Make diagnoses and prescribe medications
- Treat minor injuries requiring sutures, splints, or casting
- Record progress notes for follow-up patients
- Educate and counsel patients
- Order and/or carry out therapy with patients
- Give vaccinations
- Refer patients to additional care
- Work eight- or twelve-hour shifts assigned by an authorized GoHealth Urgent Care representative
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experienced Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
- Urgent care, emergency room, or high acute family medicine experience treating both adult and pediatric patients
- Bachelor's Degree required for Physician Assistants
- Master's Degree required for Nurse Practitioners
- One (1) year of full-time experience in Emergency Medicine or one (1) year of Urgent Care setting experience required
- Will consider 2 years of Family Medicine experience
- National Certification
- Active state medical licensure
- Applicable office procedures including suturing, splinting, and casting
- Preliminary reads on EKGs and X-rays required
- Experience treating patients ages 6 months and up in an acute care setting required
- Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records preferred
- Strong listening skills
- Strong communication and customer service skills
