About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Examine and treat patients
  • Take patients’ medical histories
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests and X-rays
  • Make diagnoses and prescribe medications
  • Treat minor injuries requiring sutures, splints, or casting
  • Record progress notes for follow-up patients
  • Educate and counsel patients
  • Order and/or carry out therapy with patients
  • Give vaccinations
  • Refer patients to additional care, including emergency-room care when necessary
  • Work eight- or twelve-hour shifts assigned by an authorized GoHealth Urgent Care representative
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experienced Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
  • Urgent care, emergency room, or high-acuity family medicine experience treating adult and pediatric patients
  • Bachelor’s Degree required for Physician Assistants
  • Master’s Degree required for Nurse Practitioners
  • One (1) year of full-time Emergency Medicine experience required; two years of Family Medicine experience considered
  • National Certification
  • Active state medical licensure
  • Experience with applicable office procedures, including suturing, splinting, and casting
  • Preliminary reads on EKGs and X-rays required
  • Experience treating patients ages 6 months and up in an acute care setting required
  • Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records preferred
  • Strong listening, communication, and customer service skills
  • Ability to work eight- or twelve-hour shifts, including evening and weekend shifts as assigned
