About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Collaborate with providers and medical assistants on patient care, organization, and communication
- Deliver imaging services using X-ray technology for patients of all ages
- Perform Medical Assistant duties under a provider after training
- Perform and analyze patient X-rays and report results to Medical Providers
- Provide administrative support for efficient urgent care center operations
- Perform X-ray services under clinical provider direction for diagnosis or treatment
- Position patients and equipment correctly while ensuring safety
- Prepare patients, verify information, record medical history, and confirm visit purpose
- Perform preliminary physical tests and escalate critical cases to providers
- Conduct point-of-care testing including flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, and HCG
- Maintain medical records and scan charts to patient files
- Conduct courtesy call-backs for patient follow-up
- Perform and document daily equipment controls and calibration
- Maintain QA/QC equipment logs, troubleshoot breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and submit repair tickets
- Collaborate with ordering/treating providers to determine appropriate procedures and views
- Explain procedures, ensure patient comfort and safety, and answer questions
- Select radiographic factors and adjust controls to produce diagnostic images
- Clean and maintain X-ray equipment and manage supplies
- Follow radiation safety protocols and ALARA principles
- Maintain accurate patient records and procedure logs
- Verify image quality and send images to radiologists for interpretation
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma required
- Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technologist program required
- Clinical setting experience preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration required at time of hire
- State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist required at time of hire, if applicable by state law
- Knowledge of X-ray procedures and protocols
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, body mechanics, and patient movement
- Knowledge of radiology equipment and common radiology safety hazards
- Ability to position patients properly for X-ray procedures
- Ability to identify equipment problems and correct them or notify a supervisor
- Ability to follow infection-control and radiological-safety procedures
