About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Register patients and collect necessary demographic, insurance, and eligibility information
- Process co-pays and assist with scheduling
- Prepare patients for examination by obtaining medical history and documenting accurately in the medical record
- Measure and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, and weight
- Perform point-of-care testing (e.g., flu, strep, urinalysis, EKG, pregnancy testing) and report results to providers
- Draw blood and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis
- Prepare, clean, and stock exam rooms; monitor inventory levels
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the medical record system
- Support front desk responsibilities, including phone management and patient communication
- Conduct patient follow-up calls as needed
- Complete opening and closing duties, including cash handling and end-of-day reconciliation
- Perform equipment checks, quality control, and troubleshooting as needed
- Follow all clinical, safety, and organizational policies and procedures
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
- Minimum of 1 year of Medical Assistant experience (required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required at time of hire)
- Must be obtained through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
- Graduate of a Medical Assisting program (preferred)
- Experience in urgent care, emergency department, or hospital setting (preferred)
- Prior experience with patient registration or front desk responsibilities (preferred)
