About the role
- Assist in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of an urgent care provider
- Manage the check-in and registration process
- Interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information on patients' charts
- May be required to draw and collect blood samples
- Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients
- Conduct patient registration and verification of insurance
- Process co-pays and schedule patient appointments
- Coordinate provider referrals to assigned Specialist
- Answer patient questions regarding their care
- Prepare patients for examination and conduct preliminary physical tests
- Conduct point of care testing as needed
- Responsible for stocking supplies and maintenance of exam rooms
- Maintain medical records and answer phone calls
- Conduct courtesy call-backs for patient follow-up
Requirements
- High School Diploma required
- Graduate of a Medical Assisting Program preferred
- Medical Assistant experience preferred
- Front Desk experience preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required at the time of hire, obtained through the American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA)
- One of the following certifications is required at the time of hire: CCMA, CMA, RMA, NCMA, NRCMA
- In lieu of an approved MA Certification, accepted certifications: Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing or LPN or RN, EMT, CNA
