About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Refine and execute GoFundMe's multi-year payments strategy and bring more core payments capabilities in-house
Design and implement the end-to-end product lifecycle for payout solutions, from ideation to launch and iteration
Collaborate with engineers, product management, designers, and external partners on next-generation payments infrastructure
Own critical technical decisions across ledgering, money movement, and disbursement
Mentor engineers through chat, code review, and pair programming
Advocate for codebase improvements and provide team leadership
Lead projects from conception to completion while balancing technical trade-offs and business needs
Communicate progress and challenges to stakeholders and keep teams aligned with project goals

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of relevant experience in payment systems or related areas including checkout/payment methods, payouts, ledgering, reconciliation, interchange, or KYC/onboarding
Deep expertise in payment systems and a track record of building and shipping impactful features
Experience architecting scalable services and systems using well-accepted design patterns
Ability to lead projects from conception to completion, balance technical trade-offs and business needs, communicate progress and challenges, and align teams with project goals
Strong experience analyzing, diagnosing, and preventing performance problems
Expertise with application performance monitoring and log analytics tools such as New Relic and Sumo Logic
Preferred: experience with Spring Boot, Kotlin, AWS, Kafka, Kubernetes, GraphQL, MySQL, or PostgreSQL
Preferred: prior experience on a ledgering, payouts, or money-movement team at scale
