Actuarial Analyst, Research & Development
Go RHAnalyst in actuary developing and updating theoretical rate bases for group insurance. Collaborating with finance and marketing teams for product enhancements and profitability studies.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and update theoretical rate bases as well as pricing tools and systems for group insurance;
- Produce reports and analyses to monitor experience and portfolio profitability, and propose improvement opportunities to increase it;
- Support the group insurance pricing team on complex submission or renewal cases;
- Participate in market surveys and studies, in collaboration with the Finance team, to position our fees;
- Conduct market analysis and monitoring and respond to industry surveys to determine market shares, positioning on various pricing elements, and to identify product development opportunities and potential threats;
- Improve and update existing products to maintain their competitiveness and relevance;
- Work closely with marketing, sales and operations teams to ensure consistent product implementation and to provide the documentation necessary for sales and contract administration;
- Perform actuarial studies and analyses to assist in setting pricing assumptions, assessing risk, calculating portfolio profitability and supporting decision-making;
- Update existing products and design new group insurance products according to market trends and client needs;
- Collaborate with technology teams and other departments to implement and maintain group insurance data and Business Intelligence (BI);
- Contribute to the design and deployment of predictive models and artificial intelligence solutions for the group insurance sector;
- Work with technology teams to integrate technological solutions into actuarial systems;
- Represent the department on various internal and external committees;
- Participate in reinsurance tender processes and evaluate submissions received;
- Any other related tasks.
Requirements
What you’ll need- University degree in Actuarial Science;
- Holding the Associate (ASA) designation from the Society of Actuaries (SOA) — an asset;
- At least five (5) years of experience in similar roles;
- Excellent analytical and decision-making skills;
- High degree of autonomy;
- Ability to explain complex concepts clearly and to present findings;
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite and programming skills;
- Able to work effectively in a team and manage multiple projects simultaneously;
- English language skills required: intermediate level (an asset).
