About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Execute a portion of GM Financial’s Cybersecurity Program to advise on cybersecurity risk management
- Organize information, enable risk management decisions, and address threats to company systems and information assets
- Develop and update cybersecurity policies, standards, and procedures referencing NIST 800-53 controls and the NIST Cyber Security Framework
- Implement revisions based on relevant regulatory or industry cybersecurity practices
- Audit and track remediation items and findings to completion
- Collaborate with business partners to manage cybersecurity needs
- Develop security requirements protecting the company from external and internal threats
- Document and report policy or procedure discrepancies and change requests
- Promote cybersecurity and monitor adherence to policies, standards, and controls
- Advocate for cybersecurity as an essential business requirement
- Serve as a cybersecurity liaison and first point of contact for cybersecurity concerns
- Represent the Global Cybersecurity organization on projects
- Translate high-level business requirements into enterprise security initiatives and programs
- Work with stakeholders and project teams on security governance, resource management, and asset management
Requirements
What you’ll need- High-level understanding of the financial services industry, security, risk, and privacy
- Current knowledge of cybersecurity legislation, regulations, advisories, alerts, and vulnerabilities
- Knowledge of Information Security and Cybersecurity frameworks
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, and Project
- Knowledge of security methodologies, policies, standards, and industry practices
- Knowledge of information technology systems, infrastructure, and operations
- Understanding of cloud technologies and concepts
- Familiarity with DevOps and Agile development processes
- Ability to promote cybersecurity and monitor adherence to policies, standards, and controls
- Ability to explain technical concepts using non-technical language
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to use AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot
- Ability to evaluate AI outputs for accuracy, compliance, and bias
- Experience integrating AI into workflows
- Familiarity with AI-assisted research, summarization, and content generation
- Understanding of responsible AI use, ethics, and data protection
- 0–2 years of experience in large and complex business environments preferred
- Working knowledge in one or more cybersecurity domains, including access control, network security, cybersecurity governance, risk management, software development security, cryptography, security architecture, operational security, business continuity and disaster recovery, investigations and compliance, IT/security audit, or IT/security compliance preferred
- 0–2 years of financial services industry experience preferred
- 0–2 years of demonstrable experience leading collaborative programs and projects with senior-level management required
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience strongly preferred
- Information security certifications strongly preferred
