About the role

  • Lead the architecture, development, and delivery of iOS applications for kiosk and mobile platforms
  • Partner with Design to create seamless, accessible user experiences for diverse rider populations
  • Implement secure payment flows and NFC-based interactions for fare collection and rider authentication
  • Define technical direction and best practices for the iOS codebase
  • Mentor and grow team members as the mobile engineering function scales
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with backend, operations, and hardware teams to integrate with vehicle systems and backend services
  • Drive decisions on frameworks, tooling, and development workflows
  • Ensure reliability, performance, and quality through testing strategies and code review practices

Requirements

  • 7+ years of iOS development experience, with at least 2 years in a technical lead or senior role
  • Deep expertise in Swift and modern iOS frameworks (SwiftUI, Combine, UIKit)
  • Hands-on experience with NFC integration using Core NFC for contactless interactions
  • Proven experience implementing payment solutions (Apple Pay, payment SDKs, PCI compliance considerations)
  • Experience shipping consumer-facing applications to the App Store
  • Strong architectural sensibilities—you've designed systems that scale and remain maintainable
  • Track record of close collaboration with Design and Product teams
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and release management
  • Excellent communication skills and comfort leading technical discussions
  • Nice to Have:
  • Experience with stored value card systems (transit cards, closed-loop payment cards, or prepaid fare media)
  • Experience with kiosk or embedded iOS applications
  • Exposure to real-time systems, IoT, or hardware integrations
  • Background in transit, mobility, or automotive technology
  • Experience with accessibility standards and inclusive design
  • Familiarity with EMV standards or contactless payment protocols
