About the role
- Lead a combination of frontline and strategic social care management within the Forest of Dean Locality Team
- Take action to address and alleviate emerging social care issues within the team
- Work proactively with staff, internal stakeholders and partner organisations to achieve positive outcomes for people
- Hold budgetary responsibility for staffing and spend and agree spend for social care assessments and support plans
- Input into service change and development and lead on countywide projects
- Manage Deputy Social Care Managers reporting to the post holder and provide supervision to wider social work and social care workforce
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships across the council and with other agencies
- Provide regular communication, collaborative solutions and robust supervision to the team
Requirements
- Substantial experience of leading a team in a multi-disciplinary environment
- Substantial experience of working with vulnerable adults or evidence of transferable experience in a statutory health or social care setting
- Effective change management and service development experience
- Experience of financial decision-making in the context of managing team budgets
- Knowledge of strategic management and leadership within the public sector
- Significant up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, policy and procedures
- Ability to provide inspirational and credible leadership and build strong relationships politically, externally and internally
- Ability to manage and oversee Deputy Social Care Managers and wider social care workforce
- Right to work in the UK enabling commitment of at least 6 months (council cannot offer sponsorship)
- Must be able to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in fluent English
- This Position is subject to a DBS check
