About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Drive continuous improvement of Software Asset Management processes and governance
Act as key advisor on software licensing topics across IT and business stakeholders
Support strategic vendor and contract management decisions
Contribute to the development and optimization of SAM tools and data quality
Implement process improvements and automation within license management
Conduct company-wide license balances and derive corresponding actions
Own Software Asset Management processes end-to-end
Ensure software license compliance and audit readiness
Optimize software spendings and improve cost transparency
Manage risks related to software licensing
Act as the single point of contact for Software Asset Management topics, including software licensing, compliance, and optimization
Provide expert guidance on licensing models, monitor usage, and proactively manage risks and opportunities
Ensure cost-efficient and compliant software usage across the organization

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of experience in Software Asset Management and Licensing
Strong understanding of software licensing models and contract structures
Experience with major vendors, including Microsoft, Adobe, Oracle, VMWare, and ServiceNow
Hands-on experience with SAM tools, ideally USU; experience with Flexera or Snow
Practical experience defending against software vendor audits
Analytical mindset and ability to manage complex datasets
Solid understanding of IT environments, including on-premises, cloud, and virtualization
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
Ability to simplify complex licensing topics into actionable insights
Experience in IT cost optimization and financial analysis
Familiarity with ITIL processes
Relevant certifications such as ITIL, SAM, IAITAM, or Microsoft licensing certifications
