About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Take end-to-end ownership of complex and strategic freight sourcing initiatives across regions
  • Lead and structure large-scale tender processes (RFI/RFQ/RFP), ensuring delivery against strategic objectives
  • Define sourcing approaches, develop negotiation strategies, and lead high-impact supplier negotiations
  • Act as the primary project lead for transport procurement projects, managing timelines, risks, and outcomes
  • Drive stakeholder alignment across senior functions, including logistics, operations, finance, and leadership
  • Translate business requirements into sourcing strategies and ensure execution excellence
  • Provide commercial insights, scenario analyses, and recommendations to support decision-making
  • Oversee implementation of sourcing outcomes and ensure sustainable supplier performance
  • Act as a key interface for strategic suppliers and critical sourcing initiatives
  • Includes international collaboration and willingness to travel within Europe (approx. 10-20%)

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • University degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Procurement, Business, or similar
  • 5+ years of experience in procurement, with strong exposure to strategic freight sourcing and transport procurement (road, rail, sea)
  • Proven track record of leading complex, cross-regional sourcing projects end-to-end
  • Competencies in developing sourcing strategies and leading high-value supplier negotiations
  • Experienced in managing senior stakeholders and driving alignment in a matrix organisation
  • Strong understanding of logistics networks, transport markets, and cost structures
  • Ideally, experience in supplier management, performance tracking, and implementation of sourcing decisions and with e-sourcing tools (e.g. Transporeon) and procurement systems
  • Analytical mindset and enjoy negotiations and project management
  • Strong communicator with the ability to influence senior levels
  • Fluent in English (mandatory); German is a strong advantage; additional European languages are beneficial
