About the role

  • Serve as the global purchasing lead for indirect products and services, building and developing teams required for best-in-class strategic sourcing
  • Direct and sponsor global procurement initiatives in close collaboration with business unit leaders and country teams, targeting sustainable cost reductions and improvements in quality, supplier competitiveness, and service levels
  • Define, implement, and monitor procurement strategies and standards for globally managed categories, engaging National Procurement Directors and cross-functional stakeholders for alignment and execution
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and design and implement strategies to mitigate supply and price risks across the portfolio
  • Manage commodity spend and projects in line with long-term planning and organizational targets to contribute meaningfully to the company’s top- and bottom-line results
  • Build and maintain a sustainable global supplier portfolio, establish strategic partnerships, and ensure full compliance with company policies and regulations
  • Lead global procurement processes, including planning, supplier scouting, selection, contracting, onboarding, and ongoing supplier lifecycle management
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to simplify and optimize procurement processes for GNFR products and services internationally
  • Standardize reporting frameworks and governance processes to ensure consistent, data-driven decision-making across regions
  • Understand strategic roadmaps for direct purchasing categories and align indirect spend sourcing solutions accordingly
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including supply chain, marketing, legal, compliance, and executive leadership
  • Communicate effectively at all organizational levels, from operational teams through Executive Board members, ensuring transparency and clarity on project status and strategic goals
  • Lead, develop, and inspire the team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous growth

Requirements

  • Exceptional decision-making and strategic thinking capabilities
  • Proven leadership with extensive experience managing diverse teams
  • Strong internal stakeholder management and supplier relationship skills
  • Reliable, structured, and independent work style with a conscientious mindset
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills
  • Deep understanding of ALDI’s business model and supply chain dynamics
  • Willingness to travel internationally up to 50%
  • Open to relocating to ALDI SOUTH Holding in Vienna
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken); German language skills are a plus
