About the role

  • Provide accurate ASL interpretation for USCIS interviews, hearings, and meetings (in-person and via VRI)
  • Interpret effectively in sensitive environments, maintaining confidentiality and neutrality
  • Adapt communication styles to diverse individuals, including applicants with varying levels of English proficiency
  • Adhere to Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) code of professional conduct
  • Maintain compliance with USCIS protocols, security, and ethical standards
  • Participate in training, quality audits, and ongoing professional development.

Requirements

  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English
  • RID, NIC, CDI, or equivalent certification (preferred)
  • 2+ years of interpreting experience in legal, medical, immigration, or government settings
  • Ability to work both onsite and via secure VRI platforms
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be able to pass a Tier 3 or Tier 5 federal background investigation
  • U.S. Citizenship or permanent residency required.
