About the role
- **About the role**
- The GARDP Global Access team was created in 2022 in response to the evolution of GARDPs portfolio, with projects in late-stage development and in the post approval phase. The role of the Global Access team is to ensure the timely access, notably in GARDPs territories, of the portfolio products.
- The **Global Access Director** is responsible for the development and implementation of the GARDP Global Access strategy. S/he leads progress toward GARDP access goals and objectives across several access projects and geographies, including overseeing access-led antibiotic projects.
- The incumbent will report to the Executive Director and work closely with leaders from Research & Development (R&D), Medical, and Business Development (BD) to deliver on the overall GARDP strategy. S/he will manage the global access team located across the world.
- The **Global Access Director** provides leadership in the development of GARDP access strategy and action plan and contributes to the overall strategy of the organization. S/he is accountable for the productive functioning of cross-functional and cross-cultural teams to deliver plans for antibiotic-specific as well as transversal access projects. S/he focuses on identifying and integrating all necessary components to enable sustainable access to GARDP product portfolio and, with the active support of the Global Access team, works across functions to provide strategic direction and enable implementation of project plan development and implementation.
- S/he is also overall responsible for all GARDP portfolio products that have transitioned into the access & commercialization phase. S/he provides external representation and maintains relationships with key organizational partners, in the access field, including UN agencies and pool procurement organizations. S/he also works closely with the GARDP External Affairs team to support fundraising activities.
Requirements

- Lead the development of operational research projects and implementation of the access strategy and work with cross-functional teams to deliver access-led antibiotic projects and transversal access projects.
- With the appropriate GARDP teams, develop and operationalize activities that will generate appropriate demand, enhance sustainable low-cost supply, allow for early uptake in priority countries, while ensuring alignment with GARDPs commercial and local country partners.
- Work with GARDP leadership to develop GARDP positions on access topics.
- Provide overall leadership and management of the Global Access team.
- Proactively contribute to the development and implementation of transversal access strategies and initiatives within GARDP, including SECURE and other potential strategic projects.
- Contribute to the growth of the organization, providing strategic advice for all access-related topics.**
- **Operational activities**
- Oversee (directly or via matrix management) all operational issues for access in the portfolio.
- Work with project leaders to develop and implement access strategies, including partnerships, for GARDP portfolio products.
- Manage relationships amongst internal functions notably through ensuring coordination and planning with relevant directors of other key functions.
- Work with the BD Director to support the development of access-oriented licenses, commercial plans and other agreements for GARDP portfolio products.**
- **Develop and maintain strategic external partnerships**
- Be an advocate of GARDP and play a leading role in representing global access projects and access aspects of the organization with key opinion leaders, external stakeholders, important global health agencies, members states and donors.
- Enhance GARDP’s role as a thought leader in the access space.
- Build an international access network to deliver success and manage relationships amongst external partners.
- Work with the GARDP External Affairs team to actively engage with funders and governments to ensure the need, value and role of access, as well as possible cost-effective strategies to enhance it is well understood.**
- **Support finance and fundraising departments**
- Works with GARDP finance to forecast, develop and monitor budgets, resource estimations and allocation.
- Participate to identify funding gaps, under the lead of the Finance team.
- Work with External Affairs and finance to prepare fundraising proposals for the defined activities.
- Support the External Affairs team in reviewing proposals and reports before sending to donors.
- Main Interactions
- Internal: Work across all GARDP departments including BD, R&D (including CMC), Medical, Finance, External Affairs, Legal and with our partners including in particular DNDi.
- External: Work with key external partners, including industry, implementing partners, WHO, Ministries of Health and civil society and all other entities potentially required to achieve GARDP’s access goals.
