About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and carryout projects related to the ongoing development of value-added products
  • Support the operations project manager with the transition of new product and processes into actual production settings
  • Work with commercial, procurement, strategy, and insights groups to find new applications and paths to market for natural cheese
  • Coordinate and execute commercialization trials in production plant facilities
  • Work with universities, vendors, and customers to develop new products, processes and applications related to natural cheese production
  • Develop, coordinate and supervise research projects in the Cheese Innovation Center (CIC)
  • Develop and apply new theories to Glanbia products/processes, applications to create advanced, innovative new products and processes that drive competitive advantage and market leadership for Glanbia
  • Prepare reports concerning the results of laboratory tests or product development trials including next steps and impact on key business initiatives
  • Collect, read, compile, utilize and synthesize ideas and methods from existing literature, experts, files and publications
  • Ability to work with Sales and Marketing to provide technical assistance for product development and support marketing platforms or products
  • Ability to work with key equipment vendors and co-manufacturers to develop new technologies that will enhance product performance or process efficiencies
  • Provide technical information to quality assurance and sales by providing accurate information related to cheese nutrition and associated labelling guidelines
  • Utilize Glanbia processes for continuous improvement, driving zero losses, and uphold the culture of Glanbia non-negotiables.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Masters degree in food science, dairy science or related field
  • 3 years of dairy & cheese product development or R&D experience
  • Bachelor of Science with 5-7 years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with pilot plant operations and management
  • Experience working in an analytical and or microbiological lab, including developing testing methods
  • Familiarity with key vendors who provide functional ingredients and processing equipment used within the food processing industry
  • Statistical experimental design
  • Ability to design and efficiently execute multiple projects in a research and pilot plant environment
  • Demonstrated experience with dairy processing and a pilot plant research
  • Developed presentation and scientific writing skills
  • Ability to keep abreast of advancing technologies related to cheese production
