About the role
- Manage end to end purchase order execution for assigned direct material categories, overseeing more than 1,000 PO’s annually with annual spend exceeding $25MM.
- Monitor MRP/ERP signals, validate system recommendations, and adjust order volumes in alignment with material planning best practices, economic order quantities, site initiatives, and supplier capabilities.
- Maintain inventory levels within agreed parameters to minimize stockouts, reduce excess/obsolete exposure, and support customer demand.
- Track order confirmations, expedite urgent needs, and proactively communicate changes in volume, timing, or supply risk.
- Collaborate with logistics and suppliers to ensure on time, in full delivery performance in support of daily production schedules.
- Serve as a primary procurement point-of-contact for plant operations, supply chain, warehouse, PSM, and quality teams.
- Lead issue resolution related to material shortages, delayed shipments, incorrect deliveries, documentation gaps, and product quality concerns.
- Conduct root cause analysis and corrective action planning for service or supply disruptions.
- Support commercialization and trials of new materials and specification updates.
- Execute procurement activities in alignment with category strategies established by Category Management.
- Manage low value/low complexity spot buys and route non-standard requirements to Category Management as appropriate.
- Maintain complete and accurate records in accordance with GMP requirements.
- Support the non-conformance and SRC processes.
- Monitor and resolve invoice discrepancies.
- Develop and maintain proficiency in ERP/MRP systems.
- Support creation and maintenance of material master data.
- Provide training for new procurement team members and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Support GPS initiatives that drive waste reduction and process improvement.
- Demonstrate Glanbia values and provide backup support for other Procurement Agents.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and food safety regulations including SQF, FDA, and PMO.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; alternatively, a high school diploma or GED with 3 or more years of experience in procurement or supply chain.
- APICS CSCP and/or ISM CPSM/CPSD of benefit.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
- Ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, etc.)
