About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Strategic and operational leadership of a business unit within the commercial property insurance segment
- Conceptual development and market-oriented positioning of the business area
- Development of portfolio management strategies, underwriting guidelines and underwriting policies in line with corporate and divisional strategy
- Preparation of regular reports for executive management and derivation of well-founded decisions based on relevant KPIs
- Planning and implementation of measures to increase revenue and profitability
- Organization, coordination and optimization of operational processes as well as management of the department using qualitative and quantitative KPIs
- Definition and consistent enforcement of the underwriting/acceptance policy for commercial property insurance
- Technical support for the sales team in complex customer and risk situations
- Maintenance and expansion of key large accounts and close cooperation with internal and external stakeholders
- Driving innovation, digitalization and transformation projects within the area of responsibility
Requirements
What you’ll need- Degree in economics/business administration with a focus on insurance, or equivalent qualification
- Several years of professional experience in commercial or industrial property insurance
- Solid understanding of underwriting, portfolio management, acceptance policy and underwriting guidelines
- Leadership experience is an advantage; alternatively strong leadership potential and competence in managing change processes
- Knowledge of project management, ideally also in scaled agile environments
- Enthusiasm for innovation and a keen interest in digitalization and further developing existing business models
- Strong analytical and conceptual skills and an entrepreneurial mindset
- Above-average commitment, strong organizational skills and a results-oriented approach
- Confident presence, strong communication skills and the ability to effectively engage sales, specialist departments and management
- Solution-oriented personality with a passion for shaping change, responsibility and demanding transformation processes
