About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Develop secure, well-tested, performant features and improvements using Vue.js and GraphQL
Turn complex requirements and legacy constraints into clear, reliable solutions
Partner with product management, product design, and user experience teams to build intuitive, responsive, accessible interfaces
Collaborate across functions and teams asynchronously and synchronously, involving domain experts as needed
Use artificial intelligence agents for well-scoped work and critically review their output
Write maintainable code following GitLab standards and advocate for standards through code review
Monitor production health metrics, participate in Tier 2 on-call, troubleshoot incidents, perform root cause analysis, and improve observability and resiliency
Share knowledge through code review, technical documentation, and daily collaboration
Coach and mentor other engineers and provide frontend technical leadership
Contribute to branch protection, Branch Rules, Codeowners, merge strategy options, and AI-powered repository management and configuration

Requirements

What you’ll need

Professional experience with Vue.js or another modern JavaScript web framework such as React, Angular, or Ember
Experience using GraphQL for application programming interface integration and data management
Understanding of semantic hypertext markup language, cascading style sheets, core JavaScript, responsive design, accessibility standards, and frontend performance best practices
Experience solving complex policy, permissions, or rules-based problems in web applications
Experience writing frontend unit and acceptance tests with Jest, Karma, Jasmine, Mocha, ava, or tape
Familiarity with the testing pyramid
Track record of improving use of artificial intelligence coding agents in a large, complex monorepo, including task scoping and generated-code review
Experience using Git professionally and familiarity with collaborative code review processes
Clear written and spoken English communication skills
Ability to influence without authority and provide status updates in a remote, asynchronous environment
Ability to manage priorities independently, work through ambiguity, take ownership, and seek guidance on difficult-to-reverse decisions
